Before Everyone Goes Their Separate Ways…

There’s a moment at every extended family session that sticks with me. Sometimes it’s a quiet glance between grandparents. Sometimes it’s a group laugh that only happens when siblings are back under the same roof. But more often than not, it’s the simple joy of being together—because it doesn’t happen as often as we wish it did.

Everyone’s busy. The kids are growing up fast. Grandparents are aging, and cousins are moving in every direction. That’s why extended family photos matter. They give you something to hold onto when the next season arrives—when college starts, a loved one moves, or life changes in big or small ways.

These sessions aren’t about perfect poses or matching outfits (although we can absolutely do that too). They’re about the people who built this family, the little ones who are just getting started, and the relationships that make it all meaningful.

The truth is, “next time” is never guaranteed. But this moment—this rare chance to have everyone in one place—is a gift.

And when you look back at these images someday, you won’t just remember what it looked like. You’ll remember what it felt like.
