There is a point in senior year when everything starts to feel real. The decisions have been made, and the next step is no longer a question, it is a plan. Where they are going, what they are doing, and what comes next begins to take shape in a way that feels both exciting and a little surreal.
This part of the session looked a little different. She brought along her college shirt, pom moms, and a banner, all small pieces that represent something much bigger. It was not about the items themselves, but what they stood for. Years of work, commitment, and the excitement of stepping into something new.
We photographed these at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, which gave us a clean and simple background so nothing distracted from the moment. Everything stayed focused on her and what she has accomplished, while still allowing space for her personality to come through.
There was a different kind of energy during this part of the session. It felt lighter, more expressive, and a little more celebratory. That shift is one of my favorite parts of a senior session, when everything moves from reflection into excitement.
Senior photos do not have to stay in one lane. They can hold both sides of this season. The quieter moments and the ones that feel full of energy. The looking back and the looking ahead.
