The Alley Kiss: Why Married Couples Need Photos Too | Morris Avenue Photoshoot
During this session, in the middle of dodging storm clouds and chasing the last bit of light downtown, I had this couple step into a quiet alley for just a moment. No kids. Just the two of them.
…And they kissed.
Not the stiff, “we’re taking a photo” kiss. But the real kind—the kind that says, “We’ve built a life together.” The kind with years behind it. A marriage. A family. A history. A whole lot of hard days and sweet ones and all the little stuff that doesn’t show up on Instagram but makes the life you’ve built so beautiful.
I’m here to say this: you deserve a photo of that.
You don’t have to wait for an anniversary or a fancy reason. You don’t need to lose weight or buy a new outfit. You don’t need a child on your hip or a milestone to celebrate.
You just need each other.
As a family photographer in Birmingham AL, I’ve taken thousands of photos of parents with their children—but I always make time for just the two of you too. Because one day the house will quiet down, the schedules won’t be as hectic, and you’ll want a photo that reminds you: we were here. We made it through this.
The kiss in the alley might’ve taken five seconds, but the emotion behind it? That’s the kind of thing you can’t pose.
So if it’s been a while since you had a photo of just the two of you, take this as your nudge. You’re worth remembering too.
Fall sessions are open now—and yes, I’ll save a moment just for you two.
