What to Expect During Your In-Home Newborn Photo Session
You’ve just brought home your baby. You’re running on very little sleep and a whole lot of love. Your house may not be spotless, your hair may not be done, and your arms are probably full almost all day long. So let me start by saying this: that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be!
Your newborn session isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about slowing down just long enough to see what this season really looks like—and giving you the gift of remembering it later, when it all feels like a blur.
For In-home Newborn Photo Sessions. You don’t have to pack a bag or leave the house. You don’t even have to change out of your pajamas if you don’t want to. This is about comfort and ease. I’ll guide you into soft, natural poses with your baby and gently document the way you hold them, look at them, and love them. We’ll use natural light and whatever cozy spaces you already have.
As for what to wear, I recommend keeping it simple. Stick with soft colors, simple textures, and pieces you feel good in. You don’t need to match, and you don’t need to stress. Light neutrals work beautifully—creams, taupes, soft blues, grays, or warm earth tones. I’m always happy to help you choose outfits ahead of time or offer feedback if you want to send a few options. But the most important thing? Don’t overthink it.
And yes—it’s completely okay if your baby cries, needs to eat, or wants to be held the entire time. This is real life and I expect all of that. There’s no rush and no pressure. If we need to pause so you can feed or rock your baby, we’ll pause. If we need to shift and shoot around a toddler who’s bouncing off the walls, we’ll make it work. We go at your pace.
My style is gentle and natural. I don’t bring props or elaborate set-ups. My goal is to document your baby in the most authentic way possible—snuggled in your arms, curled up on the bed, cradled in the light by the window. I’ll gently direct you when needed, but the best moments usually happen in between. I’m looking for the quiet hand on a baby’s back. The soft smile between you and your partner. The tiny details that will change all too quickly.
A few weeks after your session, you’ll receive a digital gallery with a full set of hand-edited images—typically 45+ images. The gallery will include a mix of lifestyle newborn portraits, family moments, and small detail shots. Nothing stiff. Nothing rushed. Just honest, beautiful photographs that reflect what this season really feels like.
Because in a few months, you’ll forget how tiny they were in your arms. And in a few years, you’ll be glad you have these images to bring you back.
