What Is the Best Time of Year for Family Photos in Birmingham, Alabama?
If you’re wondering when the best time of year is for family photos in Birmingham, Alabama, my answer is pretty simple: spring and fall are usually your best bets—but you can take beautiful family photos almost any time of year in Birmingham.
The one season I would think twice about? The middle of summer. If you live here, you already know why!
Fall Family Photos in Birmingham
Fall is hands-down my busiest season for family photography in Birmingham. The temperatures finally start cooling down, the evenings are beautiful, and a lot of families are thinking ahead to Christmas cards and gifts.
October and November dates can fill quickly, so if you know you want fall family photos, I recommend getting on my calendar early.
Spring Family Photos
Spring is probably a little underrated for family pictures in Birmingham.
Everything is green again, temperatures are usually comfortable, and you aren't competing with quite as many holiday schedules, football games and end-of-year craziness.
If you've always taken your family photos in the fall, try spring one year. You may be surprised how much you love them!
What About Summer?
I'm going to tell you the truth.
July and August in Alabama can be HOT. And humid. And nobody really wants sweat running down their back while I'm telling them to scoot closer together. 😂
Can we take family photos during the summer? Absolutely. But we'll need to be thoughtful about the time of day and location.
And Winter?
Don't completely rule it out!
Birmingham has plenty of mild winter days, and winter can be a great option if you don't need lots of greenery in your photographs. It's also a nice way to avoid the busy fall season.
So When Should You Schedule?
There really isn't one perfect month for family photos. The best time depends on the look you want, your family's schedule and what you plan to do with the photographs.
My job is to help with the rest—including choosing a Birmingham location and figuring out the best time of day.
