Don't Forget to Take Photos of Mom and Dad
As a family photographer in Birmingham, AL, one of my favorite parts of every family session happens after we've photographed everyone together.
It is the moment I ask the kids to step aside for just a few minutes.
Almost every time, Mom and Dad laugh a little. Sometimes they tell me they have not had a photograph together in years. Sometimes they look at each other and realize they honestly cannot remember the last time they stood in front of a camera without the kids.
That is exactly why I make time for those photographs.
During this family session at Jemison Trail in Mountain Brook, we spent a few quiet moments photographing just Mom and Dad while their children watched nearby. They laughed together, talked naturally, and simply enjoyed being together.
Those images quickly became some of my favorites from the entire evening.
