Fall Family Photos at Jemison Trail in Mountain Brook
As a Birmingham, AL family photographer, one of my favorite things about fall is watching families slow down long enough to spend an evening together.
This sweet family of four met me at Jemison Trail in Mountain Brook for their family photo session, and it was the perfect reminder that the best photographs rarely come from everyone standing perfectly still. They come from laughter, conversation, and simply enjoying time together.
Jemison Trail is one of my favorite locations because it offers a beautiful natural setting without feeling overly busy. The trees, walking paths, and soft evening light create the perfect backdrop for families who want photographs that feel relaxed and timeless.
From the moment we started walking, these four were laughing. The kids teased their parents, Mom and Dad laughed right along with them, and before long everyone forgot there was even a camera nearby. Those are always my favorite sessions because the smiles are genuine and the connection is real.
One of the questions I am asked every fall is, "When should we schedule our family photos?"
The answer is usually earlier than you think.
Fall calendars fill quickly with school events, sports, holidays, and weekend plans. Scheduling your family session before life becomes hectic gives you more flexibility and allows you to enjoy the experience instead of squeezing it into an already full calendar.
It also gives you plenty of time to order holiday cards, gifts for grandparents, and framed prints before the Christmas season arrives.
Family photography is about more than updating the picture on your wall. It is about documenting the season your family is living in right now. Personalities change, children grow, and before you know it another year has passed.
